A Sydney law firm by design.
Urban Law Group is a Sydney boutique acting on family law, wills and estate planning, estate disputes, and Supreme Court property matters. We are based in Riverwood and meet clients in the city by appointment. The firm is senior-solicitor-led, deliberately small, and entirely composed of senior female lawyers.
Sydney families with something to protect.
Our clients are Sydney families and individuals at moments where the structure of what they have built is at stake: a separation, the drafting of a will, the administration of an estate, a dispute over an inheritance, or the breakdown of a family property arrangement.
Some have property portfolios, family businesses, and blended households. Others have a single home that has become their family's most significant asset over thirty years of careful work. Both have something to protect, and both deserve counsel that takes their matter seriously.
We are deliberately small. We take on a limited number of new matters each year, and we only work with clients we align with. The work we do requires focus, and the difference between a competent legal outcome and an excellent one is almost always a matter of time, judgement, and care. We would rather act for fewer clients well than for many clients adequately.
Five values, drawn from the firm's name.
Understanding
We listen carefully and we ask substantive questions. The legal task in family and estate matters is almost always preceded by a personal one, and we do not shortcut it.
Reliable
Our clients can count on consistent, honest, and direct legal advice. We say what we think, we say it clearly, and we do not change our position to suit the room.
Balanced
We pursue outcomes that are legally sound and practically workable. The best legal result is rarely the most aggressive one; it is the one that holds up against the realities of the client's circumstances and the family's future.
Advocates
We act for our clients with rigour and judgement. Where matters can be settled, we settle them. Where they need to be litigated, we are prepared to litigate them in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and in the Equity Division of the NSW Supreme Court.
Navigators
Family, estate, and property matters are unfamiliar territory for most clients. We make the legal process clear, anticipate what comes next, and let our clients know what to expect at each stage.
Senior solicitors. Selective intake. Candid on fees.
Every matter is led by an experienced senior solicitor in the relevant area, supported by the team. Substantive work is not delegated to junior lawyers. The team supports the matter; the senior solicitor runs it.

Fees are quoted clearly at the outset. Standard estate planning, granny flat agreements, and conveyancing matters are quoted as fixed prices. Family law and contested matters are quoted on a scoped basis with regular updates as the matter develops.
Our role is to give clients the legal advice their matter actually requires, not the advice they hoped to hear. Clients make decisions; we provide the basis for those decisions to be made well.
